Where to apply in Nigeria

US Embassy Abuja or US Consulate General Lagos. You must interview at whichever post you selected on your DS-160.

Biometrics

Fingerprints and a photograph are captured at your interview appointment.

What Nigerian applicants should know

Since 22 April 2025, the DS-160 confirmation barcode you bring must match the one used to book the appointment — if it does not match you will be turned away at the consular section and lose the slot.
B1/B2 interview slots in Lagos and Abuja are among the longest-waiting in the world, historically many months. Check the current wait before booking travel.
Appointments are handled through the AVITS system, which replaced USTravelDocs in August 2024.
